How a story gets made

Follow one memory, Baba’s old scooter, from the first word to a book everyone who was there can keep.

STEP 1

Start a book

Say who it’s for. The book is ready.

Let Annie lay out the chapters, or name them yourself. Either way you’re looking at a real book in a few minutes.

STEP 2

Tell one story

Talk. Hit Compile. It’s a story.

Talk it through or type it out, with an old photo if you have one. Act3 writes it up in your voice, and every word is something you said. Short is great. Don’t overthink it.

STEP 3

Invite the people who were there

Ask Anil. What does he remember?

Invite people by email or in person, free. Invited by email? Once they’re in, tell the next one together on a video call from anywhere. In person? Tell it side by side at the kitchen table, no account needed.

STEP 4

Polish it, then pass it round

Everyone remembers a different piece.

Fix a word, add a photo with names and dates. Then email or text it to the people on the book. They highlight a line and add what you missed, right beside your words.

Four-step horizontal workflow: start anywhere, talk or type, Annie nudges, and hit compile.

STEP 5

Share an edition

Send it to the grandchildren.

Pick the stories for someone special and send them as one link. No account needed to read. The book keeps growing, so make another whenever you like.
