How a story gets made

1
Step 1

Start your book

Say who it’s about. Pick what matters.

Answer a couple of gentle questions and Annie lays out the chapters for you. Rather do it your way? Name them yourself. Either way, your book is ready in minutes.

Step 2

Tell your first story

Go first. Short is great.

Talk or type, and then add an old photo, then "Put it together." Read it back and tweak anything you don't like.

Step 3

Call someone and tell one together

The best stories come out in conversation.

Invite them, hop on a video call from anywhere, and share memories. You get the story, and an time with someone you don’t see enough. Rather be in the same room? Sit side by side, no account needed.

Pick the stories for someone special and send them as one link. No account needed to read. The book keeps growing, so make editions as you like

Questions people ask

Do I need to be good at writing?
Not even a little. Bring a memory and some enthusiasm, and we’ll handle the rest. Talk it out like you’re telling it over dinner. Act3 writes it down and keeps the recording, so you never have to wrestle with a blank page. Perfection is the enemy of a locked up memory!
Can I tell a story with someone else?
Yes, and it’s our favorite way. Two ways to do it: a video call, just you and one other person on the book, wherever they live. Or in person, with up to three of you around the table. Two people remember twice as much, and argue about the details, which is half the fun.
Does everyone need an account?
Only people joining online. Grandpa telling stories next to you on the sofa needs nothing but a good memory and maybe a cookie.
Who can see the book?
Only the people you invite. No strangers, no algorithms, no ads.
